CHICAGO, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Kicking off today in New Orleans, Virgin Entertainment Group and Integrate Marketing are proud to announce the addition of the MLB Authentic Collection and Pontiac as sponsors for the Virgin College Mega Tour (VCMT).
Stepping up to the plate, Major League Baseball Properties will again take the concert scene by storm with the MLB Authentic Collection music-marketing program "Access To The Show." Access To The Show, now in its third year, is designed to showcase the MLB Authentic Collection line of apparel -- which includes exclusive jerseys, headwear and outerwear -- identical to what is worn by players in all 30 Clubs. Access To The Show includes the MLB Road Show, the traveling Major League Baseball experience designed to speak specifically to the concert audience, which will be on site at each tour stop. The MLB Road Show, which is designed with special "Access To The Show" concert themed decor, includes pitching and batting cages and kiosks featuring the latest MLB video game titles.
"We are very excited about taking the Access To The Show program on the road with the Virgin College Mega Tour," said Howard Smith, Senior Vice President of Licensing, Major League Baseball Properties. "This program is solely focused on reaching the fashion conscious music audience in their environment and introducing them to the MLB Authentic Collection line of sportswear, and a diverse college tour such as the Virgin College Mega Tour is the perfect vehicle to help accomplish our goal."
Pontiac will also be along for the ride, finalizing the Virgin College Mega Tour sponsors, featuring the brand new G6 and the hot new 2006 Solstice Convertible. With its contemporary, sensuous styling and athletic proportions, the G6 is a tightly wrapped package of total performance, engaging driver's environment and outstanding quality and safety. Fans will have the opportunity to check out the G6 in person as well as be entered in a drawing to win a 2006 Solstice Convertible. With its cockpit style instrument panel and motorcycle inspired gauges, the Solstice provides extraordinary value for the price and an experience that utilizes all of the senses.
Stopping in 19 college markets nationwide (dates below), VCMT presented by Dentyne Fire & Dentyne Ice will feature CAKE as the headliners and support artists Gomez and Robbers on High Street. Multi-platinum recording artist CAKE is currently promoting the second single "Wheels" off of their fifth self-produced release, Pressure Chief and has been a fixture on the airwaves since last fall. On the heels of their acclaimed fourth LP, Split The Difference, Gomez is wrapping up an Australian tour while their rabid international fan base continues to grow. New Line recording artist, Robbers on High Street, will complete the main stage lineup and are already receiving critical acclaim for their major label debut, Tree City -- which Rolling Stone called "a smart rock debut. . . that churns out swaggering, citycentric ballads. . .and piano-driven melodies."
VCMT also features a daytime Village, including an "emerging artist" stage. The emerging artist stage will showcase three unsigned bands: former Howard Stern personality Tim Bader's band -TIM, LA based Vonyse -- performing her brand of Altered Native Soul, Chicago based Love Hammers and SF based MiGGs -- chosen from hundreds of bands by VCMT partner Sonicbids. Fans can record their own CD in the Dentyne karaoke booth or try their hand at baseball with batting/pitching cages and video games courtesy of MLB Authentic Collection. There will also be contest drawings for MLB give-a-ways, concert tickets, soundcheck with Gomez and a Meet-n-Greet with CAKE. Main stage artists will visit the Village throughout the day to sign autographs. The Village will open tentatively at 11:00 a.m.
